June 2011

June, the month of pulling out your hair to be everywhere. Pete is traveling between Calgary and Califonia hauling for Bison. He is home maybe once in eight days.

We parked the 5th wheel at a rural RV park 15 kl south of Strathmore Alberta. Calderon Acers and Golf Resort is a family orientated park . It has a nine hole golf course, a wonderful and brand new playground. There is also a swimming pond with white sand beach. The lots are large with full services. The park has alot of mature trees. The people are great. I love it. It is about a half hour drive from my parents home and our legal address in Calgary.

Just a note for those of you Canadians that are contemplateing full time RVing. You need a legal address in Canada. This is where your medical , taxes, voteing etc. are based. Even if you are rarely there it is considered your home for legalities.

This month was really busy.

First, I went to visit my youngest son and his lady in Prince George, BC. That is a good 14 hr drive from Calgary if you go through Edmonton, AB. I picked up my youngest daughter in Edmonton with her baby to come with me. It was great haveing the company but I had forgotten that babies are stuck in car seats for the whole trip now. Alex did really well but was glad to get to Prince George.

I got to meet my new daugther-in -law and my new granddaughter. They are both just beautiful girls. We had plans for a great time but that was changed when everyone came down with the flue. I got it on the way home. Just made it before collapseing. I did get to visit one freinds in Prince George though and that was fun.

Second, my parents celebrated thier 60th Wedding aniversary. As my mother has a tendency to get so excited she ends up in the hospital. It was a balancing act to give her enough info to keep her from worring whether it was going to happen and not let her get involved. My sister was the main co-ordinator and the rest of us helped were we could and chipped in to pay for it. Almost the whole family made it. Just a few grandchildren who could not get time off work to come. All of us off spring made it. The actual [party was held on Saturday the 11th of June.

Right the next Monday, I babysat for my youngest daughter in Edmonton, AB. For those of you from outside the area this is about a four hour drive north of where I live. I was all set to babysit for the whole summer when I realised that I did not have the stamina to keep up with my adorable and very energetic 11 month old grandson over the long haul. So I came in and got to play with him for the first week that my DD went back to work. Her husband was finishing his journyman electrician course that same week. As luck would have it a good friend of hers started a day home so Alex will be going there as soon as Daddy has work. I really enjoyed being with thier family and getting to know my son-in-law better.

I got home just in time to meet Pete during a stop over here at home. 36 hours of hubby time. It is really hard to go from being together 24/7 to seeing him occasionally. Last yr I traveled with him. I loved it. This year I am still balanceing my new diet. Trying to get a routine that I can live with before I try doing it over-the-road.

Then on Thursday June 23rd, I get the phone call. My frantic father saying my Mum had been taken to the hospital by ambulance with what turned out to be an Angina attack. I closed down the RV, packed a weeks worth of clothes, groceries I needed and my dog. I was at the hospital with in two hours. Not bad out of a dead sleep even if I have to say so my self. I have moved back in with the parents to take care of Dad until Mum is well enough to do what only she really does well.

So June ends with me back in Calgary, Pete working Over-the road. That is Life.
